Archive for July, 2013

I arrived at work this morning a little late but all was well, after I opened the shop and put The Cars self titled record on the turn table to listen to while I work, I sat down at my sad excuse for a desk and opened Facebook on my phone because the laptop I have was taking forever to start up. I opened my personal Facebook first and saw I had a ton of updates for the TRC page so I quickly loaded it and saw that I now had 100 likes. I never thought I would ever come close to that, this project originally started as a way to share recordings I was making anyway with other people I thought might want them.

I was and still am a big fan of NIN and I always thought it was cool how they had an open taping policy at there shows, because of that I have tons of there live shows. As cool as they where to have though I never put much time in to listening to them because I didn’t have a big connection to them. Then a few years ago I saw Static-X at headliners and directly after the show you could go to there merch table and buy the show you just listened to and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. That show put the seed in my head that this was not only something I could do but also something people would probably want.

So about a year ago I went and bought my current Tascam recorder and asked Lion from Tropic Bombs if I could record there shows. They where very accepting of it and said I could pretty much do what ever I wanted. After I had multiple shows recorded I decided that I couldn’t just keep these to my self, I figured there was someone else out there like me that wanted to relive the show they just saw. So I came up with the idea for what you see today. The bandcamp page started mostly as a collection of Tropic Bombs concerts that I had pulled from youtube or recorded myself, people seemed interested and I saw they got played a few times but that was mostly it. So I asked a few other local bands (Mindfish, Silent Lions, Onceover, Bury Thy Kingdom) if I could record there shows and post them on the site, Since then I’ve gotten nothing but positive feed back from the bands that have let me post there shows.

So thank you to all the bands that have helped me out by letting me record, sending me set lists, giving me free stuff or just being cool dudes. Also to Lion, Dean and Doug, Thank you for not only showing me how accepting the local music scene can be but how much it can kickass too.

Thank You Everyone,

Alec w.

I want your input as fans on which songs should be in the compilation so I made a separate page (top right) for you to listen and vote on whichever songs you want in the compilation. So please take some time to go through and listen to the shows and decide what you think should represent what Toledo has to offer.

Thank You

Alec W.

00001 …Things to come

Posted: July 19, 2013 in Blog Updates

This post is not only a place marker for the beginning of the site but also a promise of things to come. I will be putting some serious time into this site, so that it will not only have the usual TRC recordings but also pictures, interviews, write ups on new albums and much more. I want this site to be the number one place to go to when you want to know what is happening in the Toledo music scene. So keep and eye out for some great stuff.

Please to Enjoy,

Alec W.
