Dogs Die In Hot Cars

Please Describe Yourself

Celebrity Sanctum

I heard this song on Radio From Hell, a morning show out of SLC Utah, and its been in my head ever since. I’m not sure exactly what it is about the song that sticks with me but it just works. I catch myself at work some times singing about Lucy Lu and humming the chorus of the song. If you can find the song or the album I recommend giving it a listen. The few other songs I’ve listened to from the album remind me of Hot Hot Heat (circa 2003).

Go explore new music, when you think you’ve heard everything there’s always something new.

Until next time, Please to enjoy!

OnceOver

White Raven

1. The Prelude

2. The Death of You

3. The Ghost and the Giant

4. The Ocean

5. Skeleton Key

6. The Locus of Control

Toledo’s steadfast metal group Onceover has released there 6th album this year for free on there webstie. This EP may not be the kick in the stomach that “9” was but it does show that this band is willing to try things a little different and still succeed. Over all I find this album to be a little more softer and tug the feelings of the listener a bit with tracks like “The Ocean” but it can still make you wanna bang your head with “The Death of You” and “The Ghost and the Giant”. More then anything this album gets me excited to see these songs live. Onceover has been on the Toledo scene for quite a while and knows how to put on a hell of a show. These songs are a great addition to there arsenal of noise and should keep Toledo rocking all through 2014.

This album is defiantly worth the listen and for the low, low price of free why not test it out. Don’t forget though that if you do like it there is a donate button on there page so they can make physical copies of the album and hopefully play a few release shows sometime this summer.

See you tomorrow…

To practice writing reviews of actual albums I decided to start writing reviews of fake albums on instagram. Follow me and see what you think of Monotone Weather. I hear there pretty good.

Monotone Weather

#MonotoneWeather is a band that started in the suburbs of #Cincinnati in the early 2000`s. There debut #EP#GlobalWarming was released on there own label by the name of Cloudy Day Recordings. This stunning 4 track #EP was produced in fall of 2003. I give this record a 4 out of 5 star rating for its great lyrics and even better musical accompaniment.

Track List

1. It’s Getting Hotter

2. Warm PBR

3. Cloud Seeding

4. Couches On The Curb

I arrived at work this morning a little late but all was well, after I opened the shop and put The Cars self titled record on the turn table to listen to while I work, I sat down at my sad excuse for a desk and opened Facebook on my phone because the laptop I have was taking forever to start up. I opened my personal Facebook first and saw I had a ton of updates for the TRC page so I quickly loaded it and saw that I now had 100 likes. I never thought I would ever come close to that, this project originally started as a way to share recordings I was making anyway with other people I thought might want them.

I was and still am a big fan of NIN and I always thought it was cool how they had an open taping policy at there shows, because of that I have tons of there live shows. As cool as they where to have though I never put much time in to listening to them because I didn’t have a big connection to them. Then a few years ago I saw Static-X at headliners and directly after the show you could go to there merch table and buy the show you just listened to and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. That show put the seed in my head that this was not only something I could do but also something people would probably want.

So about a year ago I went and bought my current Tascam recorder and asked Lion from Tropic Bombs if I could record there shows. They where very accepting of it and said I could pretty much do what ever I wanted. After I had multiple shows recorded I decided that I couldn’t just keep these to my self, I figured there was someone else out there like me that wanted to relive the show they just saw. So I came up with the idea for what you see today. The bandcamp page started mostly as a collection of Tropic Bombs concerts that I had pulled from youtube or recorded myself, people seemed interested and I saw they got played a few times but that was mostly it. So I asked a few other local bands (Mindfish, Silent Lions, Onceover, Bury Thy Kingdom) if I could record there shows and post them on the site, Since then I’ve gotten nothing but positive feed back from the bands that have let me post there shows.

So thank you to all the bands that have helped me out by letting me record, sending me set lists, giving me free stuff or just being cool dudes. Also to Lion, Dean and Doug, Thank you for not only showing me how accepting the local music scene can be but how much it can kickass too.

Thank You Everyone,

Alec w.
